More colour exploration...

Sometimes you just have to move quickly and grab a camera: what is in front of you is fleeting... The bright, early morning sun on this piece of furniture was not going to be there forever. what was there took me back to this beginning exercises with composition, echoing down the days. Diagonals and subtle vertical / horizontal lines.

The same sun was working its designs on the lounge carpet. So here we have yet more diagonals, thanks to the Venetian blinds and an interesting pointing-up of the colours.

This shot was taken on the evening when, recently, the moon was due to appear larger than normal in the night sky, due to the closeness of its orbit. Whilst waiting for that event, the western sunset sky offered this very gentle range of hues and a lone planet emerging from the blue haze.

What I have noticed with these various assignments is that whatever the specific focus is, then you start to see that focus everywhere. The section on 'colour' is no exception - everywhere I now look I'm seeing colour in a really fresh way. Some of the shots in this post will eventually form part of the formal assignment, but for now I am just presenting them as a celebration of colour for its own sake. Hence the two bath robes above...

These two shots are of the same glass, catching the sunlight on a table at my daughter's house. I have recently acquired a MacBook computer and learning how to use iPhoto. I never really used editing suites beyond cropping photos but am enjoying the possibilities offered in this new package. I'm a long way off Photoshop Elements and what I have now will keep me happy for a long time.

This is a photograph that seeks to celebrate the simple joy of colour in its simplest form. I was driving through Cambridge on some other mission, but the sight of all that yellow was too much to resist. I finally found a place to park and grabbed the camera. The yellow and the green are just shouting!

With the image above and below I am noticing the 'accent' in situations - where one isolated object or colour stands out and asks to be noticed...

More colour just for the hell of it...

Seeing the 'accent' again - a balloon blowing about near a door in Oxford, in the street that houses the Oxford Union.

I'm letting the colour, the light and shade all do their work, create their own drama.
